Creative Kids - Holiday Workshops and After School Classes

It's the season of creative kids.

With School Holidays just around the corner Ventana has a fully packed school holiday weekend ahead and as well as some open spaces in our exciting Term 4 after school sessions.

This Saturday from 1-3:30pm colour in your very own Thunderpants' Lorien Zoo printed garment for free (with purchase of garment). Sign up now to save time by having your undies, leggings, boxers or undershirt tanks ready for you when you arrive.  You can browse the new styles here.


This Sunday, there are still a few free spots to the All Ages Portable Loom Weaving workshop 10am-12pm (Sunday) 25th September.  Sign up today, join your young one, or have the morning off!  Morning tea included in the price of sign up as well as a loom of your very own to take home and create many more weavings to come.

After School Sessions are Filling up!  

Be sure to sign up your wee ones for an after school session as spaces are filling up fast.  Starting at $85 per term, these classes are going to be loads of fun and a unique alternative to the usual after school offering.

Tuesdays - Drama, 5-7 year olds & 8 and up

Fridays - Ukulele Lessons with Wellington Ukulele Orchestra singer and musician Sam Auger

Shibori Silk Dying Workshop this Saturday at 9am!
Learn the ancient Japanese practice of using natural dyes from onion skins and insects.

Make your own Glass Jewellry with local glass jewellry artist Deb Wardle 9am on Saturday the 1st of October.

Life Drawing
 kicked off to a great start last week.  Looking forward to a repeat again on Wednesday the 12th of October with a new model and more inspiration and creative flow with Tina Rae Carter.  Big thank you to Janelle and Martinborough Brewery for providing us with their delicious brews.


Paint the Masterpiece is coming up again on the 7th October, spots are filling up fast so sign up quick to get in.  Finom catering is already working on the next sneaky cake flavour and Tina and Auriga are planning the next surprise painting.  Massive thank you to Amanda of Terroir Wines for sponsoring the last two Masterpiece nights, next up we will have Dry River Wines and winemaker Wilco Lam with us.  Cannot wait!

Gallery Rotation Monday Next Week

The "Hello Martinborough" gallery show comes down next week.  Monday will be the last day to buy the current artworks.  Come say goodbye to these beautiful pieces!  The "Hello Martinborough" show has been such a great success for many artists around New Zealand and equally successful for Ventana.  It was a very high caliber collection to start off with and thank you to all who participated.

Local jewellry artist Emily Efford has made some beautiful new pieces for the shop, art deco silver, ebony earrings and pendants as well as several gorgeous one of a kind rings.

Ventana's Artist in Residence arrives next week

First Ventana Artist in Residence Mark Johnsen arrives from California next week!  Stop by the shop to see him in action as he will be working on his etchings while he's here.  Mark will also be teaching two workshops early next month, Monotype printmaking for grown ups and a no press required trace type class for all ages.


Wundaire Ceramic Workshop pieces will be here this week

The Wundaire Ceramic Vessel Workshop was a hit.  The beautifully fired and glazed pieces will be arriving in the shop Thursday this week. Be sure to stop by and pick up your gorgeous creations.  We will post a reminder the moment they arrive.
