Katie Jenssen is a 26 year old ceramic artist based in Napier. After a whirlwind three years completing her Bachelor of Science in Wellington, she couldn’t find a job as an eco-warrior and found herself sick with a freshly diagnosed autoimmune disease. This saw Katie returning home to become flatmates with her Nana, Ingeborg Jenssen, who was a much-beloved studio potter in Hawke’s Bay.
The love for clay began right away, and Katie was quickly experimenting with her creative side that had been put to rest while she was studying. Three years later, her work can now be found in galleries and shops across New Zealand.
Katie draws her influences from a unique collision of the natural coastal environment she’s most comfortable in and the saccharine lights of pop culture; always with a feminist tilt.
