This workshop is one for the imaginative! In this intensive, full-day workshop you will be provided with two 'blank' pots thrown by Paige - the same shape she uses to make her mugs. You will be shown ways to decorate and turn your pots into one-of-a-kind ceramic items. You could make a mug, a butter dish, a mini planter/hanging planter, a lidded jar, an oil burner, a mini teapot - the possibilities are endless!
The workshop will begin with demonstrations of techniques to modify and decorate your pots. Modifications will focus on different ways to make spouts, handles, lids, feet, or decorative additions, and how to attach them correctly so they don't fall off. Decoration techniques will focus on underglaze and the many ways this medium can be applied: painterly watercolour, colour blocking, inlay, layering, creating texture, mark-making, wax/latex resist, paper resist, and sgraffito. Once armed with knowledge and inspiration, you will be unleashed onto your pots with Paige on hand for guidance, advice and assistance.
All materials and tools will be provided. The workshop is split into two halves with a break for snacks and chats. At the end of the workshop Paige will take your pots away to be fired. They will be glazed in a gloss clear glaze. Pots will be ready to collect in 2-3 weeks, either from Ventana or Wellington.
